ALL-SPEED TRACTION CONTROL

  • All-speed traction control monitors the amount of wheel spin of each of the driven wheels, applying brake pressure to the slipping wheels and reducing engine power to provide enhanced acceleration and stability.
  • Provides increased driving confidence on all road surfaces, especially on sand and gravel as well as wet and snowy roads.
  • Controls the wheel spin across a driven axle, similar to limited-slip differential.
  • If one wheel on a driven axle is spinning faster than the other, the system will apply the brake and slow down that wheel.

BRAKE ASSIST

  • Helps to ensure 100 percent brake efficiency during panic situations to help drivers stop sooner in an emergency.
  • Reacts faster than a human being to apply full brake pressure.
  • Can help reduce stopping distance by over a car length at highway speeds.
  • No system, no matter how sophisticated, can repeal the laws of physics or overcome careless driving actions. Performance is limited by available traction, which snow, ice and other conditions can affect. When the ESP warning lamp in the instrument cluster flashes, the driver needs to use less throttle and adapt speed and driving behaviour to prevailing road conditions. Always drive carefully, consistent with conditions. Please always wear your seat belt.

BRAKE SYSTEMS

  • Power front disc/rear drum brakes reduce rolling resistance for better fuel economy. On Limited and all 4x4 models, four-wheel disc brakes are standard.
  • Standard four-wheel ABS helps maintain directional steering control while braking on slippery surfaces by preventing wheel lockup.
  • State-of-the-art electronics for faster system response, helping provide a 96-0 km/h (60 to 0 mph) stopping distance of 38 metres (125 feet) on dry pavement.

NHTSA FIVE STAR SAFETY RATING

  • Jeep Compass has received the U.S. Government's highest crash test rating for side impact protection.

occupant protection

BELTALERT®

  • An enhanced seat belt reminder system for the driver combines chimes, a flashing warning lamp and warning light illumination, reminding the driver to fasten the seat belt.

FOG LAMPS

  • Round 100-millimetre lamps include stone chip-resistant polycarbonate plastic lenses, and high-efficiency halogen bulbs to provide excellent road coverage. The low wide beam illuminates the area immediately ahead of the vehicle.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING

  • A display in the instrument panel (within the Electronic Vehicle Information Centre), standard on Limited and included in the Security and Cargo Convenience Group optional on North Edition, alerts the driver to help maintain adequate tire air pressure, promoting the safety/security and better fuel and tire economy attributed to properly inflated tires.
  • Displays the actual pressure readings of each tire in the instrument cluster's display, along with a warning symbol for low tire pressure. All Compass models have a standard Tire Pressure Monitoring warning lamp.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS

  • Variable-intermittent front wipers adjust the wipe interval to the desired frequency.
