SAFETY
2011 SAFETY
- Named a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Jeep Grand Cherokee offers the Most Advanced Safety Features in its Class* and Most Available Safety Features in its Class*
*Based upon 2010 Wards Middle Sport/Utility Vehicle Segment
AIR BAGS
- In the event of an impact, advanced protection is provided with New Standard Front Seat Side Airbags and Standard Full Length Side Curtain Airbags.
ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINTS
- In the event of a rear collision, Standard Active Head Restraints for driver and front passenger actively move forward and upward, reducing the degree of head acceleration and rotation, lowering the chance of injury.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS)
- The benefits of ABS are widely known, yet this advanced system actually knows when you're driving over rough terrain and adjusts accordingly to help you keep under optimum control.
PARKVIEW®/PARKSENSE® PARK ASSIST SYSTEMS
- Shift into reverse and back out with grace. These systems help bring previously hidden rear objects to your attention, either on screen or with an audible warning, in good time to react. ParkView® and ParkSense® is only an available option on the Laredo X, Limited and the Overland, it is not available for the Laredo E.
ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)
- A vehicle-wide network of ESC safety sensors provide instant aid when they detect that you're veering off your intended path. This comprehensive system immediately goes into action when needed, helping you to move safely forward.
HILL DESCENT CONTROL (HDC)/HILL START ASSIST (HSA)
- Your need for them may be rare, but these systems are always at your beck and call when you need to get safely up and down the mountain. Hill Descent Control (HDC) is optional on the Laredo E and Laredo X, however it is standard on the Limited and Overland. Hill Start Assist (HSA) is standard for all 2011 Grand Cherokee models as it is part of the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) feature.
ELECTRONIC ROLL MITIGATION (ERM)
- If the going gets rough, Grand Cherokee's ERM gets going, taking immediate action to help you maintain stability and remain under control.
KEYLESS ENTER-N-GO
- Start the vehicle with the push of a button. When the key is inside the vehicle and the brake is applied, simply push the start engine button. Engine is turned off with the push of the same button.
NEW PASSIVE ENTRY
- With this system, the vehicle key can remain in a pocket or purse and does not need to be handled to unlock or lock your vehicle. A sensor automatically detects the presence of the vehicle's key and unlocks the vehicle when a front door handle or the liftgate is touched. Conversely, it will automatically lock the vehicle when the key is outside the vehicle, and the door handle lock button is pressed.
BLIND SPOT MONITORING
- It's the next best thing to having an extra pair of eyes. Through radar sensors located in the rear quarter panels, this system monitors Grand Cherokee's blind spots and notifies the driver of other vehicles within the blind spots. Icons illuminate in the outside rear view mirrors and, if selected by the driver, an optional chime sounds. (Late Availability)
CROSS-PATH DETECTION
- When Grand Cherokee is in reverse, the Cross Path Mitigation sensors will identify other vehicles crossing your path and alert you. (Late Availability)
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
- Automatically maintains a driver-selected distance between you and the vehicle in front of you, eliminating the need to constantly readjust the cruise control in traffic conditions. When approaching a slower moving vehicle or when another vehicle pulls into your lane, the system automatically decreases your preset cruise control speed. When the vehicle ahead speeds up or exits from your path, the system automatically reaccelerates to the preset cruise control speed. (Late Availability)
FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM
- Detects whether you're approaching another vehicle or large obstacle too rapidly and alerts you to take action to prevent a collision. The alerts are both visual via the cluster EVIC and audible via a chime if enabled by the driver. (Late Availability)
