CAPABILITY

2.5 Tons of Fun

  • Properly equip your Liberty with the Trailer Tow Group and you can tow up to 2.5 tons of fun.*
  • Trailer Tow Group (Class III) includes: Class III hitch receiver, Trailer Sway Control (TSC), seven pin wiring harness, seven-to-four pin adapter, full-size spare wheel and tire, heavy-duty engine cooling and power steering cooler.Optional on all models.
  • *2268 kg (5000 lb.) when properly equipped.

Command-Trac II™

  • Standard on Liberty is the Command-Trac II part-time 4WD system.
  • The system uses an electronic console-mounted switch for smoother and quieter operation. The part-time system still has the traditional 2WD High, 4WD Lock, and 4WD LOW operation modes, as well as shift-on-the-fly capability. When engaged, the transfer case provides equal torque from the engine to both the front and rear driveshafts, causing them to rotate at the same speed (cannot be used on dry pavement).
  • This system provides the peace of mind of four-wheel-drive capability for part-time use on slippery or loose surfaces, such as snow, mud or sand, along with the convenience of shift-on-the-fly.

Selec-Trac II™

  • When in 4WD AUTO mode, the always-active 4WD transfer case provides continuous, optimum traction that effortlessly conquers rocks, snow, ice, mud and anything in between. When traction loss tries to rear its nasty head, Selec-Trac II identifies the situation and immediately sends torque to the wheels with the most grip. For economy-minded travellers, Selec-Trac II delivers with a unique two-wheel drive mode, an efficiently strong feature that perfectly pairs with dry pavement.

Towing

  • Liberty can tow a healthy 2268 kilograms (5000 pounds) when properly equipped.
  • The advanced four-speed automatic transmission uses fully adaptive electronic control for exceptionally smooth shifting. Push the TOW / HAUL button next to the shifter for improved vehicle performance and fuel economy while minimizing engine noise during trailer towing or heavy-load hauling. The TOW / HAUL mode inhibits fourth gear and allows upshifts to third gear during higher speed / lighter loads.

Trail Rated®

  • A Jeep Trail Rated® badge is found on all 4x4s that pass a series of gruelling tests designed to prove off-road capability. Capabilities have been validated by the Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC), providing independent third-party validation of Liberty's 4x4 capabilities to confidently handle difficult driving situations.
  • Available 18-inch wheels and tires are not Trail Rated®. There are five main categories of testing: Water Fording, Traction, Ground Clearance, Manoeuvrability and Articulation.

Tow Hooks

  • Be a hero. Liberty's available heavy-duty forged steel tow hooks are perfect for helping pull less capable vehicles out of a ditch.

Electronic Throttle Control (ETC)

  • Liberty's Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system helps prevent the “pedal bobble” that often occurs when in 4WD-low (4LO) mode. ETC's special off-road calibrations help the driver to “feather in” the throttle over uneven terrain, logs and rocks. The difference is night and day, and is akin to walking versus bouncing along tough off-road events.

3.7L V6 Engine

  • The standard 3.7L V6 engine produces a robust 210 hp and 235 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm, with a generous dose of power at the engine's low-end that provides more pull when the going gets tough. Engine is paired with a standard four-speed.

Fuel Economy

  • 3.7L V6, 4-speed automatic: 14.0L/100 km (20 mpg) City, 9.7L/100 km (29 mpg) Highway.
