2021 JEEP WRANGLER 4xe: THE FUTURE HAS ARRIVED

2021-03-03
There's something new in the Jeep Wrangler 2021 lineup. A new variant makes its debut, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The 4xe adds to the vehicle's off-road capabilities by incorporating electrification.
The result is the most efficient Jeep Wrangler ever built. It will be offered in two versions, Wrangler Sahara 4xe and Wrangler Rubicon 4xe.

Power and Efficiency

Thanks to their configuration that incorporates two electric motors, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe and Rubicon 4xe each offer 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque (the most torque on a Wrangler ever). That's enough to sprint from 0-97 km/h in only 6 seconds. Better yet, the 17-kWh battery makes it easy to make most daily trips in all-electric driving only, without any range anxiety.

4x4?

Jeep has built its reputation on the off-road capability of its models. The vehicles it offers are equipped with competent 4x4 systems that are recognized as benchmarks throughout the industry. The brand has been exercising this leadership for nearly 80 years.
The arrival of a hybrid system was not going to change this tradition. As a result, the Wrangler 4xe still comes with rigid front and rear axles, as well as a two-speed transfer case. With the Rubicon version, the battery pack rests under the second-row seats inside a sturdy aluminum case. The housing is sealed, cooled and heated. The Wrangler 4xe therefore maintains the same 10.8-inch ground clearance and the same water fording capability at 30 inches.

Jeep vehicles were the first to be equipped with an automatic and permanent four-wheel drive system, a transfer case offering a 4:1 ratio and an electronic front sway-bar disconnect system. The integration of electrification into the Jeep lineup with the 4xe technology is simply the natural evolution of things.

The Powertrain

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe powertrain consists of a 2.0L Turbo Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) engine, two electric motors and a 400-volt battery pack. It is connected to the eight-speed PHEV automatic transmission.
It’s charged up and down for fun, with an electric range that’s always supported by authentic Trail Rated capability right out of the gate. The driver-selectable E-Selec Modes let you choose from among a blended hybrid operation, fully electric travel, or an eSave Mode that saves battery use for whenever you choose.
Tread lightly in near silence using the 4xe’s Electric Mode and Mother Nature will reward you. Ecologically sound travel produces fewer emissions, and when you’re riding high in the hills, you’ll experience a new kind of hushed, wind-in-your-hair freedom.

Finally, note that blue design cues will define the Wrangler 4xe. This will be seen on the tow hooks of the Rubicon as well as an outline around the Rubicon name on the hood, Jeep badge and the Trail Rated badge. Inside, the Wrangler 4xe Rubicon has unique blue stitching on the seats and trim.
