UCONNECT 5: THE BEST MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM IN THE INDUSTRY GETS BETTER

For a little over 10 years, FCA has offered the best multimedia interface in the industry, the Uconnect system. Why the best? Because it's so user-friendly that it's a delight to use.

New generation

Starting in 2021, a new generation will be born through the Uconnect 5 product line. Taking advantage of a new platform and equipped with an Android-based operating system, Uconnect 5 will be used in more than 150 countries.
This fifth-generation version is five times more powerful than its predecessor, Uconnect 4. Its processing speed and faster response times will only add to the user-friendliness of the experience. And with sharper graphics, the overall design of the information presented will also look sleeker, simpler and more pleasing to the eye.

A smarter system

Uconnect 5 has been developed in such a way that many functions can be accessed at the touch of a button. Fully customizable, the system can store up to five user profiles, each with precise home menus, specific settings and other preferences. Functions are defined in the form of icons, which can be moved around on the screen just like with smartphones. Each icon hides other functions that can be accessed. In total, therefore, there are two clicks to access what you are looking for. And to switch from one user to another? Yes, only one click. Dual telephone connectivity is also becoming a standard and allows two phones with Wireless Connectivity to be connected simultaneously, with the possibility of privileging one over the other for certain functions, such as calls.

Design

The increased power of the Uconnect 5 system comes from the new Atlantis architecture that replaces the Powernet platform. The on-board computer is available with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of flash memory. With the ability to process more information and display an image that takes advantage of 15 million pixels, this has allowed designers to multiply the number of different screens or menus. Display modes can be found in standard, portrait or landscape format, all on screen sizes ranging from 7 to 12.3 inches.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

The industry's two most popular applications, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will now be wirelessly connectable to the Uconnect 5 system. Alexa's capability is expanded to include an integrated virtual assistant, giving the feature the ability to interact with the car and home, and allow each occupant to communicate with the system.

Other enhanced features include

Uconnect 5 will offer many other enhanced features such as navigation, connected services and the ability to take advantage of online updates. The system will even learn from drivers' habits. Owners of electric vehicles will even benefit from charging station information if their planned route exceeds the battery's capacity.
Vehicle maintenance and servicing will also be managed by an on-board messaging service. In short, it's a leap into the future of connectivity that Uconnect 5 offers.
Note that it cannot be added to existing products, but only to new models that will be introduced by Stellantis including the upcoming Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Cherokee L.
