The Jeep lineup received a new designation in 2020 when the Desert Rated badge was introduced on the all-new Jeep Gladiator Mojave.

The Mojave became the first ever Jeep to receive the Desert Rated badge, but more models will receive it in the future. The badge is a testament to a vehicle’s ability to survive one of the harshest environments on the planet, the desert.

Survive the Harshness of the Desert

The desert brings a unique set of challenges for a vehicle. Sand swirling in and around the mechanical components, intense heat from the sun, and dunes offering very little traction and an uneven environment where the suspension will be put to the ultimate test. Much like the Trail Rated badge, it is a testament to a Jeep’s ability to handle the toughest off-road conditions, the Desert Rated badge is a sign that a vehicle can handle the extreme conditions presented by the vastness of the desert.

Desert Rated is broken down into five segments:

Traction

A vehicle must be able to provide grip on the most difficult surfaces such as slippery sand, loose dirt, and gravel. The Gladiator Mojave uses its Command-Trac part-time shift-on-the-fly 4x4 system to provide the best traction in every situation. The Gladiator Mojave’s rear locking differential and 33-inch tires also ensure optimal grip.

Desert Prowess

A Desert Rated vehicle is protected against the unique elements of the desert, namely sand, dust, and loose gravel that can infiltrate the engine compartment and other important mechanical components.

Ride Control and Stability

The Gladiator Mojave is equipped with high-performance FOX 2.5-inch internal bypass shocks that provide the highest level of control and stability in the unique desert environment. The Mojave also features industry-first FOX front hydraulic jounce bumpers that protect the vehicle when going over dunes.

Maneuverability

Desert Rated means being able to navigate the sharp turns and difficult angles with confidence. With an approach angle of 43.6 degrees, a breakover angle of 20.3 degrees, and a departure angle of 26 degrees, the Gladiator Mojave offers a high level of control in any situation.

Ground Clearance

With 28.1 centimetres of ground clearance (11.1 inches) and a 1-inch front lift useful when racing through the desert, the Gladiator Mojave has enough space to clear high, undulating dunes.

The Desert Rated badge means that you can confidently attack the desert environment knowing the vehicle is set up to face the harsh conditions of this unique setting.
